Brazil - Fazenda Dutra
Brazil is well-known for coffee. Specifically for their huge coffee plantations similar to corn fields you could find in the United States. While they are the largest producer of coffee, providing a third of the world's supply, only a small percentage is specialty grade. At Fazenda Dutra in the Mata de Minas region, the estate is nearly 2,500 acres with 10 distinct farms. While this estate seems big, it is small to medium by Brazilian standards, which allows the Dutra Family to focus on specialty grade coffee. The Dutra family also takes their role as employer very seriously with big investments in a school located at the estate and a health program for employees and their families.
