In the Eastern highlands of the Democratic Republic of Congo near Lake Kivu lies an amazing place to produce coffee. In South Kivu Province, high elevation paired with an interesting micro-climate thanks to the lake allows for some coffees like no other in the world. This specific lot comes from the Mpumbi Village Micro-Washing station consisting of 60 producers, 13 of which are women.
Roasted lighter to preserve the complex flavors of Kiwi, Pineapple, Brown Sugar, and Thyme, we recommend brewing at a higher temperature of 203-205 degrees, and at a 1/16 ratio in order to extract the full potential of the coffee. Check out our pour-over brew tutorial here.
Note from the Roaster: "This coffee's tasting notes remind me of a mixed cocktail. Try brewing it iced, and mix it with gin. Then, drink responsibly." - Jonah
