Peru Mountain Water Decaf.

Picture
Within Peru’s Ayacucho Province and buried deep in the Andes Mountains lies the remote Apurimac Valley and the CACVRA – the Agrarian Coffee Cooperative of the Apurimac River Valley.  Coffee grows here between 1300 and 1800 meters on very small farms—less than 5 hectares—and under a vast canopy alongside avocados, oranges, and other fruit trees.

Most of the CACVRA coffees are organically grown on very small farms, by producers who take great pride in their work and are striving toward a sustainable living. Many of the farms have their own small washing station and drying patios, and the co-operative employs several technicians who are constantly visiting and working with the farmers to ensure quality and consistency.

Success of the CACVRA has meant increasing living standards for the more than 1,000 member families.  The co-op, along with other supporting organizations, is providing its members with ongoing advice, loans, and training in bio-cultivation. In this way the farmers are equipped to make a sustainable living and prevented from feeling the need to move elsewhere or resort to growing and cultivating coca.

Our Peruvian coffee has been decaffeinated through Mountain Water Process in Verecruz, Mexico.  Mountain Water decaffeination is a natural – chemical free process that removes 99.9% of the caffeine and leaves the coffee tasting great.
